Friday 28th November (Day one with an extra night)
Perpetual rain… the roof caved in.
“Its the same principal as a market stall” said Man when he arrived. “Just needs a sloping roof.” No problem.
There it is – the kitchen shelter – successfully lightweight and solid at the same time. Nice to keep it transparent to see the rain falling on the roof, to be able to move it, keep mobile thats the motto.
soon we’ll be harvesting the rain in the kitchen.
POWER IS BEING CREATED!
Shaun tells…”its a light weight biodiversity roof. Made out one sheet of thick plastic, some gravel from the car park
and plants dug up from the immediate area.
from yarrow to marshland grasses and reeds. Yes we’re on the marshlands!
Water harvester is split bamboo, gutter collecting water run off into Pitted Queen olive barrel.
Frans Bike ‘Colette’ has been adapted into a 60 watt power station.
The wheel is held off the floor with a indoor resistance bike trainer. A 250 watt electric scooter motor is fastened to this and tensioned against the back wheel with some bungee cords. The power flows into a two farad car audio capacitor with a LED voltage read out display.
or powers an inverter for a 240 AC power, lighting, stereo etc.
The cyclist has to keep the voltage display between 12 & 13 volts.
Raae makes some suggestions for improvement of the power station…
“It would be great if there was a shelf here where I could put my cup of coffee or my gin… There’s so much to do. Reading, crocheting, drawing an iron age loom…”
This how easy it is to make electricity.
Power Happy Station.
