Saturday 31st January
A lunch date with Maki & Kajsa
Surplus eggs from the workers breakfast are transformed! To welcome our guests today, Ella baked a scrumptious carrot cake.
The first happy taster of the day is Anne, a regular passer by from Epping.
Energy Cafe drive in! The word is spreading fast. Elaine and Christina popped in for a moment. “We’ll be back!”
Its Maki & Kajsa’s (ABAKE) first visit. Bright sparks and clever cooks – ingredients in hand, they’ve come to test out the cooking facilities and be inspired.
While preparing ‘Gunpowder Pasta’
some unexpected guests cycle in.
Beth, Ben and Tabitha used peddle power to travel from Clapton, soaking in the wildlife and winter sun along the River Lee to destination Energy Cafe…
…a cafe with a difference: there’s no commercial agenda here. Its an open off grid facility for anyone to drop by and use: to get a stove going and warm up a tiffin full of picnic curry.
To warm the toes and the heart in friendly company
in the spirit of sharing a common ground.
While Gunpowder Pasta hots up on the sun stove
Maki & Kajsa get some some ideas going for the trailer. Lunch is almost ready…
pumpkin, onion, chili, leek, spinach, red cabbage, good cheese, salt, pepper
Delicious! Thanks Maki & Kajsa!
After extending the palette platform around the chimnea (to keep the feet warm) and doing a few repairs, Maki & Kajsa cycled into the darkness to devise an Energy Cafe design brief for their students from the Communications department at the RCA. Great! We’ll see them again during Energy College.
Final tip: Surplus eggs? Boil and pop in your pocket to make an instant and edible radiator!
